Our goal is to reduce waste by connecting people who want to get rid of an item with people who could use that item. So clean out your closets, basements, attics and sheds, get rid of all that extra clutter. All items must be free. No weapons. No money. No drugs. Please remember that the Freecycle network is about reducing waste by keeping items out of the landfill. We do not throw people or pets in the trash, so no wanting or offering service persons or pets please.
I’ve read ms. Babette post about freecycle community while back and I searched in my area but we don’t have it, the closest is in Waterford. So- I joined the community group, after a week I put up our Maytag front loader washer and dryer, dishwasher, electric stove and long couch. I have so many responses and didn’t know what to do. Nadean even suggest drawing out the names. Anyway, Julie and I re-read all the responses and lowering it down to 3 emails. It was so hard because I know the 3 emails we picked, they all need it. This won’t be hard if I’m closes to my family I can just give all our stuffs to them. Well- it took me 2 days to decide who to give out to. I picked the person who has 5 children and took her all weekend to wash the clothes with small washer and dryer.
Anyway, they came over yesterday and picked up the washer, dryer and long couch. As we pulling out the stuffs, behind the long couch there was the sofa, I asked her if she’s interested, she said yes. And the other corner of the garage there was the coffee table, thankfully she took them all. Got email from her last night letting us know that it was a great find for her, washer and dryer work perfectly. I’m glad we found a good home for our good stuffs.
Now- I need to email to those who is interested with electric stove and dishwasher. And find out of the side effects of alli.

1I love freecyle. I think it’s such a great program that helps those in need but also helps to get rid of some of the old items we don’t use or need anymore without dumping them into a landfill. I can’t imagine working washers and dryers in a landfill! That’s great what you did for that woman!

2Hi Carlotz, that’s great you were able to recycle those items and you chose someone who needs it the most. One thing that I don’t like is sometimes people do not show up, they don’t even send an email that they cannot make it. Other than that, it’s a great way to recycle things. :o)
