Here I am for this week challenge: Welcome to my blog Dashing Smiles.
My name is Carlota AKA choco, carlotz, kharlota. I am 40 years of age. Shhh don’t tell anyone. Married for over 17 years and blessed with one beautiful and wonderful daughter Julie. I was born and grew up in Cagayan de Oro City. In 1985 we moved to Cebu City for painful reason. Since then, Cebu City is where I called home. I am currently residing in Oxford, Michigan for almost 18 years.
In 1997 I asked hubby if I can work but sadly he said NO. The reason was Julie was still little and he doesn’t want her be in daycare. Nevertheless, I didn’t stop asking him until we had a huge fight! Eventually he gave up, however, he sent me to take some classes because he doesn’t want me to get JUST a job working in McDonald or any retail stores. I wasn’t thrilled of the idea because I’m new in the country and afraid I’ll fail. But he encouraged me and believed that I can do it. To make the story short, I took drafting for 4 months and proud of myself being a top student in the class with average grade A+ for the drawings and A for written. Then after drafting I took CATIA Basic 3D Surface, CATIA 2D Draw Mode, and CATIA Advanced.
In 1998 I start working in auto industry and contract from Chrysler as Eng. Graphics Illustrator. When economy was down in 2008, sadly, I got laid off. I was really depressed; I spent over 10 years with the company and with wonderful people that I worked with. In addition, the freedom of my job!
After a year of being SAHM, I finally found a job. Well, not really, a friend who work in medical office as a biller asking me if I want to apply to one of their offices. I wasn’t really sure about it because I don’t have any background in medical field. But because she thought I can do the job and that I should give it a shot. Again, to make the story short I submitted my resume and got the interview. During my interview I told the interviewer flat out right that I don’t have any experience or term in medical, however, I am a fast learner. With the word “fast learner” I got hired! So here I am with my scrubs.
Online life, (lol) I start blogging in 2005 that was fun then until I start paid blogging in 2007 (reason I said was fun because it’s more personal, paid blogging not so personal, lol). The 1st blog that made few dollars were My Daily Sunset and followed these blogs (wink*):
I am also known as the queen of blog makeover! When I start customizing my blog layout/theme that how friends bloggers started asking me if I can give their blog a makeover too. So, if you’re thinking to have your blog a makeover don’t hesitate to contact me. LOL

Nice to know more aobut you. Sa Chrysler ka pala nag work, they are currently hiring here literally direct from the street. I might give it a try though but not sure.I don’t know how far is Oxford to us, all I know is we are literally across Detroit.

Anyway, your journey madame is very inspiring, i wish to have that kind of opportunity but I do not know how to draw a line, so erase sa designing. so if I can’t draw a line, maybe I can do tusok tusok sa pasyente din but i love your schrubs uniform and like you I am a fast learner, so mao magpatakod ko nimu sa imung sugilanon aron someday i get to land a good job that wears gorgeous uniform heheeh.

What a great life’s journey for you from the move in the Phillipines to Cebu City and then to the states.
How lucky that you get the job with the words, “fast learner”.
BTW scrubs is my everyday attire as well.
